FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. --- It seems every day is something, be it be nice to your sister day, national wear a hat day, national coffee day, and so on, but nothing seems to get folks more excited than national doughnut day, which falls on the first Friday of June.

  • Donut Crazy, with locations in Stratford, Shelton, and Westport, allows for a free regular doughnut with the purchase of a beverage while supplies last. (Go early!)
  • Enjoy local flavor (though no promises on deals) at Uncle Leo’s in Redding, Speedy Donuts and SoNo Baking Company in Norwalk, Lakeside Diner and Lorca in Stamford, Darien Doughnut in Darien, Coffee An’ Donuts in Westport and Stew Leonard’s.

National Doughnut Day dates to 1938 Chicago. The unofficial holiday was created to honor The Salvation Army "Doughnut Girls," who provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending, home-cooked meals, and donuts for soldiers on the front lines. History and more information HERE.
