At Bridgeport's Beardsley Zoo, Vote For Your Favorite Scarecrow

BRIDGEPORT, Conn -- The rest of the city may be talking politics, but you can cast your vote for something sure to please both sides of the aisle at the annual Scarecrow Competition at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo.

You can now view -- and vote -- for your favorite scarecrow. These creative works of art are on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the zoo. They were created by area schools and sponsored by local corporations.

Winners will be announced at the "Boo at the Zoo" on Oct. 26. The "Boo at the Zoo" runs from noon to 3 p.m. and includes harvest hay rides and other seasonal enjoyments. Those 12 and under in costume, (accompanied by a paying adult) are free. Otherwise, admission is $14 for those 12 and older; $10 for ages three to 11 and 62-plus. Children under three are free.
