The Habitat 5K Run for Home has been one of Habitat CFC’s main events over the last 20 years and the organization is looking forward to welcoming a record number of runners this year. The proceeds raised from this year’s run will help finish the construction of a new Habitat home for a family in need of decent, affordable housing in Coastal Fairfield County.

The event starts at 9 a.m. and will include a 5K run, a workboot challenge, kids’ relay and special post-race 20th Anniversary Celebration overlooking the Long Island Sound. The 5K run is intended to bring out enthusiasts of all kinds, from walkers to runners. The fast and flat USATF certified course makes 5K run the perfect opportunity for serious runners to set qualifying personal records and the optional WorkBoot Challenge offers participants the challenge of wearing workboots on the course.

This event is presented by Bankwell and in partnership with WEBE 108 and WICC 600.

Bankwell’s Chief Lending Officer Heidi DeWyngaert notes, “At Bankwell, our focus on helping to provide the development of safe, affordable housing for everyone in our community is matched by our strong commitment to give back to those communities we serve. We are very pleased to sponsor and participate in this important Habitat initiative again this year.”

"On behalf of Habitat's 5K run committee, I'd like to extend our sincere appreciation to Bankwell for partnering with us on our 20th Anniversary run," said Elizabeth Misiewicz, Habitat 5K Run for Home Committee Member. "We are thankful for Bankwell's continued support of our efforts to make affordable housing available to hardworking, local families in Fairfield County"

For the post-race celebration at the finish line, participants will enjoy music, free food and beer and activities including an awards ceremony with prizes for top placing runners in a range of categories. For more information on the run or to register visit https://www.habitatcfc.org/runforhome.
