BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch, along with The Lighthouse Program and the City of Bridgeport’s Parks Department, recently announced plans for the 5th annual Healthy Kids Day.
The day full of sports and activities will be Wednesday, July 15, at Seaside Park. Organizers estimate about 900 youth from the Lighthouse Program and various parks department programs will participate in, according to a press release.
The kids range from fourth grade through eighth grade and will take part in sports like basketball, football, baseball, martial arts, tennis, golf, Zumba, lacrosse and cheerleading, according to a press release.
“Keeping Bridgeport youth healthy, safe, and active during the summer months is so important for their future and ours,” said Finch in a press release. “As the father of two young children, I know this all too well. Healthy Kids Day is a great example of how we are working together to make Bridgeport better every day.”
The city founded the Healthy Kids Day as part of its work to expose youth to different sports and to reinforce the importance of being active and staying fit, according to a press release. For more information, please contact Brett Broesder at (203) 257-1049 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
