BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -- The Child and Family Guidance Center, a Bridgeport-based agency that promotes positive child development and the emotional well-being of children, has issued a call for donations.
The nonprofit is celebrating nearly a century of providing behavioral health services to Fairfield County. And this spring, it also marked a change in leadership when Michael Patota stepped in as its new president and CEO.
Making a donation is “a true investment in the social and emotional health of kids and families in Fairfield County," the Child and Family Guidance Center said in a release.
More than 90 percent of the 3,100 children and family members it served in 2014 live in poverty, the agency said. The daily struggle for basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter leaves them in a constant state of crisis, it added.
The agency offers both supportive services and in-home therapy. Outpatient mental health services are never denied because of an individual’s ability to pay, it said. Programs are offered in both English and Spanish.
Its crisis intervention team responds to 211 calls within 45 minutes in the greater Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford areas. It also has clinics in Fairfield and Stratford.
The agency is located at 180 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport. For more information, click here , or call (203) 394-6529.
