Bridgeport Library Hosts Historic Preservation 'Boot Camp'

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport Public Library's architectural historian, Charles Brilvitch, is leading a forum about historic preservation.

The event will be held on Thursday, Nov 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the library's Burroughs-Saden History Center, 925 Broad St. in Bridgeport.

The Historic Preservation Boot Camp is free-of-charge, and will address such issues as buying an historic home and establishing historic districts.

Other topics covered will include: how to research a building or house; how to establish historic building status with the state or Federal government; how to lobby a town or state historic commission; ways to delay building demolitions; and how to Identify and select period-appropriate styles when renovating a building.
