Black History Month Discussion Planned For Bridgeport Library

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Bridgeport Library's Black Rock Branch will host A Celebration of Black of Black History Month with several special guest speakers, including State Sen. Marilyn Moore, retired Bridgeport Police Lt. David Daniels, producer Cheri L. Humphrey, playwright/artist Francis Pressley, community activist Kingsley Osei, author Harry Bell and author/community organizer M.L. Brooks.

The free event is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the library, , 2705 Fairfield Ave.

The panel discussion will touch on:

  • Violence in the community.
  • Racism in America today.
  • Voting rights.
  • Police brutality.
  • How to build the future.
  • Celebrate and create awareness.
  • Bridge the divide.
  • Unite and effect change.

Free food and beverages will be provided.
