BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The 2016 Jayne Kuchma Leadership Greater Bridgeport (LGB) Alumni Award will be presented to Stephen J. Tyliszczk, development administrator of BLD, the developers of Steelpointe Harbor.
The award will be given at the LGB commencement dinner for Class 27 on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Tashua Knolls, Trumbull.
The award celebrates distinguished alumni who are recognized in their profession for outstanding achievements and are actively engaged in community service in the greater Bridgeport region.
“Steve exemplifies the spirit of this award,” said Laura Campbell, executive director of Leadership Greater Bridgeport. “Not only does he have an extraordinary professional record of accomplishment; he consistently gives back without question. Besides his volunteer work with local nonprofits, he is a living legend within LGB as the guide for our annual Big Tour. His deep knowledge provides the foundation for the class by providing important insight and context about what’s happening in the region and has been a highlight of the program since he graduated from Class 4.”
A native of Bridgeport, Tyliszczk’s career has spanned over 30 years in the nonprofit, government and private sectors, working on major infrastructure, transportation and development projects. He joined BLD in June 2014, assisting in the development of 150,000 square feet of new construction including Bass Pro Shops, Starbucks, Chipotle and T-Mobile.
He has been involved in the creation of project plans, grants writing, and grants management, and has overseen the construction of major capital projects including the Park Avenue Gateway to the Sound, Burroughs Community Center, Ballpark at Harbor Yard, Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport Intermodal Transportation Center Transit Garage, Greater Bridgeport Transit Bus Terminal, Seaview Avenue Transitway, East Bridgeport Development Corridor, P.T. Barnum / East Bridgeport Train Station and the Steelpointe TIGER II Infrastructure Improvements Project.
During his tenure with the city of Bridgeport Office of Planning & Economic Development, he served as a project manager, grants writer and administrator, and principal city liaison working with the Federal Transit Administration, Federal Highways Administration, Connecticut Department of Economic & Community Development, Connecticut Department of Transportation, and local contractors, developers, and regional utilities managing over $125 million of construction activity.
He currently sits on the board of directors of the P.T. Barnum Museum Foundation and the Burroughs Community Center.
The Jayne Kuchma Leadership Greater Bridgeport Alumni Award was established in 2015 to celebrate the life of Jayne Kuchma, who graduated with LGB Class 14 and served for many years on the LGB board of directors.
