'Shop Small' Deals Still Offered At Bridgeport's Gumdrop Boutique

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The "Shop Small" promotion continues at Bridgeport's Gumdrop Swap Kids & Maternity Thrift Boutique, where owner Gabby Fludd says she had her best "Small Business Saturday" ever.

Yes, the warmer weather helped but so did her "Fill-a-Bag for $25" sale. The promotion is extended through Dec. 6 or until the bags run out.

Basically, shoppers can fill a branded "Shop Small" reusable tote bag with pre-loved kids and maternity clothing for $25 plus tax, for a total of $26.59. New clothing with tags, formal wear, shoes, and toys are excluded. The limit is four bags per customer.

The thrift shop is a "different kind of thrift shop," according to Fludd. She never turns away clothing based on the season.

"If it's something we can sell, we accept it all year long," she said. Shoppers can expect popular brands such as Beetlejuice of London, Lilly Pulitzer, Ralph Lauren, Hanna Andersson, Children's Place, Gymboree, Gap, and more.
