FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- After 57 negotiating sessions over three months, Stop & Shop and local unions representing its workers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island reached a tentative agreement Saturday on a new contract, according to a story in Supermarket News.

The sessions took place between the retailer and representatives of five United Food and Commercial Workers union locals in Providence, R.I., said Supermarket News.

UFCW Locals 328, 371, 919, 1445 and 1459, who represent about 35,000 workers at Stop & Shop stores in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island said they would present the contract for approval to their members over the next week, said Supermarket News.
